Hi all,
So...the first of the love socks is done and off the needles. I don't have a picture of it so I will share when they are both done.
I could attach a photo of the second sock in progress but it looks pretty much exactly how the first sock looked at this time last week. The good news with that is that the second sock is flying. That means I will be onto The CEO's other cousin's socks very soon. I am terrifically excited about those as they are being made with yarn that contains aloe to soothe my hands while knitting...yeah, I know.
So that's what is happening in the world of knitting. Its funny, because I (as of right now) am not suffering from any of the typical knitter's ailments associated with knitting 14 socks before Christmas (I have 6 done, though, so I am stoked).
I don't have Startitis. Although there are some Knitcrate projects I am keen to knit and a certain wonderful girl asked me to make her a sweater dress (how awesome is THAT?), I have been very focused with the idea of plowing through these projects until they are done. Plus, I added in enough new technique and incredible yarn to keep it interesting. I've always been a bit of a one project at a time knitter, anyway.
I (thankfully) don't have Second Sock Syndrome. I believe this is my fortune for two reasons. One is that I force myself to cast on the sock within moments of binding off the first sock. Trust me, it is better this way. Empty needles could lead to the temptation to do something naughty (like cast on the hemp shopping bag).
I will confess that I have to constantly fight the urge to stash. I distract myself with the constant reminder that yarn DESERVES to become something when it grows up. And I don't want too much lonely yarn sitting around. I hear many knitters openly admit that they have more yarn than they can knit in a lifetime. That makes me sad for the yarn. Now, if the aforementioned girl decides to become a knitter to whom I can bequeath the stash when I kick the bucket someday all bets are off.
I'm reading The Friday Night Knitting Club (yes, yes, I know...I am a woman obsessed) and enjoying it. Who knew there was so much fiction about knitting?
The Namaste bag came and it is fantastic (and HUGE)...I carried it this weekend and yesterday but today I am back to my favorite bag of the moment, which I absolutely adore...and is a recent gift from The CEO.
I passed by a store in Park Slope, Brooklyn and just couldn't stop myself from going in to see how much it was. The price was totally reasonable and, when I came outside the shop to let The CEO know I was going to buy that darned bag, he bought it for me. He said as soon as he saw the look on my face, he knew I had to have it.
This picture doesn't do her justice but here is Owlie. She's roomy, made of vegan leather, and dreamy.
In other news, The CEO and I are in week two of the Couch to 5K running program. It sucks a little less every time we run. So I guess that's good. At least I have fantastic company. Plus, we took the boys on Sunday and, while Teddy mostly glared as we dragged him along, Simon LOVED the running. And today I found this online...so we shall see.
Finally, you have to make these meatballs. Just trust me, ok?
