WIPW & Yarn Along

It's Wednesday...the summer has flown by and The CEO and I are just a little over three weeks away from Birthweek festivities.  This year, we will be visiting my Hometown of Savannah, GA along with Charleston, SC and Hilton Head, SC...with some time visiting my mom in "lovely" Guyton, GA.

In case you were wondering, I do have a plan to drag The CEO to a yarn store or two.  Although, with Rhinebeck coming soon after Birthweek (with a ComicCon in the middle) I may behave myself...we will see.

I still need a skein of Koigu KPPPM!

At any rate, here is the progress on the Love Socks...I think they are coming along well now and looking much more appropriate for a person than a large pachyderm.

I was a bit afraid that the camel yarn didn't have enough stretch but it is proving to work out just fine (I'm sure the ribbing helps).

Magic Loop has likewise proven not to be the problem I anticipated.  It is actually easier in practice than my beloved double pointed needles, and the toe up construction definitely has its merit.  I'm not the 100% convert that some are but I think this technique will be seen more often on my needles than I had initially anticipated.

As for those meatballs I promised...I made these Carolina BBQ Meatballs to a rousing chorus of compliments from The CEO.  He hates sweet BBQ sauce and I assured him that the mustard/vinegar taste of Carolina BBQ sauce would not be that...He ate as many as he could, ate the leftovers the next day, and was less than pleased when they were gone.  These were a cinch and were made with ingredients I keep on hand.  Give them a try, and take a look at the blog they came from...if you are a carb conscious eater, this is the site for you.

This week I have been using a Montana Huckleberry soap I picked up during last years' birthweek.  It smells delicious, lathers nicely, and reminds me that it might be time for another trip to Big Sky Country soon.

And finally, I promised myself two gifts for my birthday.  One...I wanted a Namaste bag and Two...something Chanel.  Yesterday, I was able to obtain, through my obsessive loyalty to Knitcrate, a pretty honkin' discount on my bag...so it is coming.  I chose the Hermosa...it's the biggest and I wanted a brown bag.  The CEO greatly assisted in this decision...incredible shopper that he is!

As for the Chanel, we shall see...but I'm not talking perfume or makeup so this is a pretty important decision.

  1. That bag is pretty rockin! Also, OMG CHANEL. What are you considering?

  2. Thanks! I love those Namaste bags. I would like them all in various colors. As for Chanel, I'm not 100% sure yet. I am thinking maybe black ballet flats as they are practical. Or maybe a classic clothing staple like a little black dress or a jacket. Last night I may or may not have bought a winter coat (Prada) so I don't need one of those now. :)
