October Foodie Pen Pals Reveal Day - whee!

Hey Y'all.  I participated in the Foodie Pen Pal program over at The Lean Green Bean for the second month in a row and it was awesome again.

I got to send a package to Lisa over at Feed You With a Kiss and I will link back to her blog post when it goes up.  She was very open to trying new things and I had a blast picking out some local Brooklyn stuff for her.  Sadly, Teddy ate one of the items I meant to send her...darn that dog!

But anyway, I was lucky enough to receive a package from Lindsay from Oklahoma.  Lindsay is a trained chef who realized that she would rather be an amateur.  And when I say amateur I mean it as a compliment.  My college music theory professor used to say that an amateur is a very talented person who was smart enough to recognize that they didn't want to destroy their passion by doing it professionally.  I told Lindsay that I would love love love to have anything local or made by her and she didn't let me down.

I was so excited to get my package and barely stopped to take a photo while I tore open the box!

And what a treasure trove I found.  Lindsay sent me so much awesome stuff.

First up is a salsa mix...I haven't tried this one yet but can't wait.  The CEO and I love things that are spicy and fresh.  I have been planning to serve it with some freshly cooked fish so look out for this in a future blog post with a recipe.

Up next was a bottle of local, award winning, Oklahoma barbecue sauce.  I served this with some homemade chicken fingers for the last Football Foodz day!  This stuff is delicious.  It has a sweet start with a super spicy finish.  It deserves every award it ever got.

In the "too cute to eat" category, Lindsay sent me a chocolate bar in the shape of the great state of Oklahoma.  I love this...just love it.  Maybe I will eat it someday but it is just sooooooooo cute.

Lindsay also sent some peanut butter chocolate popcorn.  I wish I could tell you about this one but The CEO ate the whole bag.  I really don't mind because he loved it so much.  I guess this stuff was really really good.  And he smiled the whole time.

There was one final thing in the box but I don't have pictures.  Lindsay sent homemade cookies with oatmeal, M&Ms, chocolate chips, and pecans.  I don't have a picture because The CEO and I gobbled them up in the middle of the night the day the package arrived.  And man oh man were they good.  They had the perfect balance of cookie versus sweetie parts.  I'm sorry I don't have photos.  You'll have to believe me when I say that Lindsay has a real future in amateur cookie baking.

I love the Foodie Pen Pals program.  It is like Christmas every month and I get to meet new people.

You should do two things!

1.  Head over to the Lean Green Bean and check out the blog roll of people who got amazing packages
2. Sign up to be a Pen Pal if you haven't already

This is the most fun thing I've done in awhile.

NoM!
