Yarning Merrily Along

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's a confused looking Simon!
Well, it feels like it has been a month since I posted but I guess it was only a week, which doesn't bode well for the season...sigh.  On the crafting/eating/reading front all is well, though.

A month or so ago, The CEO sat me down and had me watch Game of Thrones.  We devoured all three seasons in no time at all.  And I just wanted more, so...at The CEO's (amazing, very good, incredible) suggestion, I am now listening to the book on Audible.  I just cannot believe how good it is.  Well, I suppose I can believe it but I am pleasantly shocked at how much I adore it.  The show is awesome and I am stoked for Season 4 but if you are a fan of the show and haven't read the books...do so now.

I finished Patriots and was kind of glad.  Finishing the book during the government shut down and with everything going on lately economically and politically, it really frightened me toward the end.  With that said, I still recommend it, even if you believe our great nation will always be as it is and was, you'll learn something.  You may not agree, but you'll learn.

From a gastronomic perspective, last weeks' Football Foodz were an ode to the cocktail and various times of day they are consumed.  There was a bloody mary dip (the morning cocktail), a Rye Whiskey Barbecue Sauce (an afternoon drink), and a martini dip (for the evening...and with vodka, of course.)  I also made my layered pizza dip and everything was delicious.  Here's a photo.  Recipes for any of it upon request.

Knitting is going well.  I am on the heel of the second sock for The CEO's mother.  It is a fun knit, even if the pattern sometimes confuses me, and I love the yarn...it is a merino from Periwinkle Sheep and here is a tiny spoiler.  Look away if you want to be surprised!

Magic Loop.  Size 1 needles.  Good times.

This weekend is NY Comic Con for The CEO and me followed by Rhinebeck the next weekend.  Let's hope I don't buy more yarn than our house can hold.  I do have a bit of an upcoming destash, though...which I will tell you about next week.

Until then...
