Why does casting off always make me feel like a genius?

My first pair of Christmas socks are DONE!  This took forever and felt like such a triumph!

I was going to be a super spy and not post photos of the Christmas socks but...honestly, I doubt that most of the recipients read this blog so I am taking my chances.  This is a fair warning for anyone who doesn't want to keep secrets:

Elm! Pattern by Cookie A from The Knitter's Book of Socks (buy this book!)

It took me about 5 times to get this going but once I did, I had so much fun knitting these up.  And I am pretty happy with the final outcome, but see for yourself!

Foot model = me
If you look by my foot, you can see the corner of the cabled hot water bottle cover I made from Knit Crate.

I love these socks, I love this yarn, I love everything about this project and I just hope the recipient loves these as much as I do.

In other news, I finished WingSpan for my mom.  Here's what that looks like prior to blocking.  I love this pattern and have been seeing some of the incredible things people have done with it.  The pattern is only free on Ravelry until July 20th so I sincerely recommend saving that bad boy prior to then!

Complete with a view of the new wall hangings for the dining room :)
Now, I am onto the socks for The CEO's sister.  I knew the pattern was for her as soon as I saw it.  And now, well, it is kicking my heinie.  I will tell you more about it later.  The CEO and I hand picked both the yarns and the patterns for the family for specific reasons.  I'll do a recap after Christmas and explain them.  However, I think the person who gets the gift should hear about that first.

As for food, I haven't been cooking much...still.  But The CEO has now requested a barbacoa bowl.  Anybody have a recipe?
