Let me just start by saying that these are delicious.
Our first recipe for First Football Sunday was Sausage and Cheese Wontons. I found this recipe over at This Mommy Cooks. It had been on my list for awhile and I was very excited to be able to make it.
These look pretty complicated but they aren't. That's one of my favorite qualities in a recipe.
Zee Ingredients:
1 cup shredded Monterrey Jack Cheese
1 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese
2 cups shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 small can sliced Black Olives
1 bottle Ranch Dressing (I used a 16 oz bottle but read on)
1 lb Sausage
1 pack of Wonton Wrappers
Where I departed from the original recipe:
- it calls for 2 cups Monterrey Jack and 2 Cheddar. I ran out of MJ so I improvised
- it called for chopped black olives and I couldn't find them so I went with sliced
Zee Directions:
Preheat the Oven to 350. Then, brown the sausage. Here's a picture:
Then, take a muffin pan and put one wonton wrapper in each muffin hole (I don't know what else to call it, giggle if you must). Spray the pan with cooking spray first. Pop them in the oven and cook for 7 minutes (the original recipe called for 6 but I found the extra minute really made a difference in the crispiness of the wonton...so keep an eye on the first batch).
In the meantime, mix all of the other ingredients in with the sausage in a big bowl. When you're done, it will look like this:
When your wontons come out of the oven, spoon a dollop of the mixture into each wonton and put it back in the oven for 4 minutes. The original recipe says to put them in the microwave for a minute or so but...I don't own a microwave. You do what you can.
Let these cool and then serve 'em up!
The CEO doesn't like ranch but he liked these. We did agree on two things. One is that, if I made it again, I would use less ranch dressing (the smaller bottle) and more black olives. Otherwise, these are close to perfect and REALLY yummy.
Try these, you'll like them.

I used locally made spicy Italian sausage but any kind that can be removed from its casings and browned will do fine
In the meantime, mix all of the other ingredients in with the sausage in a big bowl. When you're done, it will look like this:
That is some cheesy goodness right there
Let these cool and then serve 'em up!
Super duper tasty!
