21 September 2012 - Thinking About What is Really Important

My joy in cooking started because of The CEO.  I decided one night that I was going to make him dinner.  I started with something I knew I could handle and made him Paula Deen's mac and cheese, chicken fried in butter crisco, and chocolate peanut butter no bake cookies.

And he ate until he was probably uncomfortable and said such nice things about my cooking that I wanted to fix him something to eat every day for the rest of my life.

Relationships are hard.  People disagree, things get tough, and sometimes you say things or do things you don't mean.  The CEO and I are no exception.  But something we always say is "Come at me with love and everything else will be ok."

Today is The CEO's birthday, which falls exactly one week before mine.  And tonight we will go out and celebrate a day that excites me tremendously...the day that this wonderful man came into being.

But, before those festivities begin, I hope that you will excuse me while I take a moment to not talk about food.

This is a love note to the man who makes every morning delightful.  This is for the non dog lover who calls my boys his kids.  This is to you, the man who helps me see that everything really will be alright.

Throughout all of the food adventures, the silly things we discuss, the football games I pretend to understand, and the quiet moments when you sit beside me while I write this blog, I want you to know that YOU are what is important.

So today everyone raise a glass to celebrate the birth of The CEO.  He is the PERFECT man for me.

XOXO
