8.12.12 - Four & Twenty Blackbirds

I think the pie craving has finally come to an end.  Yesterday, I found myself thinking about banana pudding...so that could be the next phase.  We shall see.

On Sunday, I dragged The CEO into another Pie-venture.  This time, I ran by Four & Twenty Blackbirds, which is very close to our rehearsal studio.  Being me, I couldn't decide so I got three slices:

- Salted Caramel Apple
- Strawberry Nectarine
- Salty Honey

Here they are:

From the left: the apple, the strawberry nectarine, and the honey
When we got home that night, I put together a pie plate containing the two pies I made the day before as well as the three new slices.  This was our dinner.

Ranked, in order of The CEO's preference:

1.  The peanut butter/chocolate I made (he's a liar but I love him)
2.  The salted caramel apple
3.  The peach I made
4.  The strawberry nectarine
5.  The salty honey

Ignoring the shadow, that's our dinner.  Carb Coma in 3....2....

The salted caramel apple really was amazing.  Sweet but salty with just enough cinnamon to make it epic.  I could have eaten a whole pie of this if given the time.

The strawberry nectarine was also quite good.  Sweet but not too sweet.  My only issues were that the nectarine slices are HUGE, making this a bit difficult to eat.  Also, they didn't peel the fruit, which made my sensitive digestive system a bit unhappy.  But it wasn't the end of the world.

The salty honey was just neither of our thing.  It was at once too salty and too sweet and the texture was just wrong.  But perhaps some people LOVE this kind of pie.  We didn't eat more than a bite each.

So yeah, I think I am over pie now.

Tomorrow I am going to blog about something. I am not sure what since the only thing I've cooked has been tomato soup and another batch of the CEO's nuts.
